چکیده

Third order Coulomb correction to t ¯ t threshold cross section * We report on our result of third order Coulomb correction to the cross section σ(e + e − → t ¯ t) near threshold. Analytic expression for the Coulomb energy and wave function at the origin are obtained. We discuss the significance of the Coulomb correction to the threshold cross section and heavy quarkonium phenomenology. 1. Threshold cross section The t ¯ t threshold cross section has the following schematic form in the conventional perturbative expansion of α s , σ(e + e − → t ¯ t) ∼ σ Born [1 + α s v + α s v 2 + · · · ] , (1) where σ Born is a Born cross section, and v = 1 − 4m 2 t /s is speed of produced t, ¯ t. The combination of (α s /v) n appears to all order in the perturbation theory, known as Coulomb singularity. The perturbative expansion in α s is not applicable to the threshold cross section because v is of order α s near the t ¯ t threshold √ s ∼ 2m t , and the Coulomb singularity (α s /v) n dominates the cross section. To obtain meaningful cross section the Coulomb singularity has to be summed to all order in α s. The physical origin of the Coulomb singularity is instantaneous gluon exchange between t and ¯ t which has a small spatial momentum | q| ∼ v ∼ 0. This is called potential gluon because of its propagator

Third - order Coulomb corrections to the S - wave Green function , energy levels and wave functions at the origin

We obtain analytic expressions for the third-order corrections due to the strong interaction Coulomb potential to the S-wave Green function, energy levels and wave functions at the origin for arbitrary principal quantum number n. Together with the known non-Coulomb correction this results in the complete spectrum of S-states up to order α 5 s. The numerical impact of these corrections on the Up...

Ultrasoft contribution to heavy-quark pair production near threshold

We compute the third-order correction to the heavy-quark current correlation function due to the emission and absorption of an ultrasoft gluon. Our result supplies a missing contribution to top-quark pair production near threshold and the determination of the bottom quark mass from QCD sum rules. Top quark production near threshold: NNLO QCD correction

We calculate the cross section of the process e+e− → tt̄ near threshold by resumming Coulomb-like terms with next-to-next-to-leading (NNLO) accuracy. The nonrelativistic Green function formalism and the method of “direct matching” are used. The NNLO correction turns out to be large, of the same size as the NLO correction. It changes the position and the normalization of the 1S−peak. The obtained...

Top quark production near threshold and the top quark mass

We consider top-anti-top production near threshold in e+e− collisions, resumming Coulomb-enhanced corrections at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO). We also sum potentially large logarithms of the small top quark velocity at the next-toleading logarithmic level using the renormalization group. The NNLO correction to the cross section is large, and it leads to a significant modification of the...

Symmetrisation in the Semiclassical Theory of Coulomb Excitation

Corrections to the Alder and Winther semiclassical cross section for first order Coulomb excitation are considered through the Sukumar and Brink systematic expansion of the propagator in inverse powers of Sommerfeld’s parameter, η. The zeroth order term is that provided by unsymmetrised Alder-Winther theory and it is shown that to order 1/η the only type of correction is one corresponding to en...
